Debbie King

Board of Directors

Debbie holds a BA (Hons) Sociology and Social Administration and a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Policy and Law, and has held executive management roles in government, private and not for profit sectors for over 25 years.  She was the Managing Partner of Synergistiq (formerly Success Works) and led a number of major consultancy projects including the three-year evaluation of the Department of Justice and Regulation’s Sexual Assault Reform Strategy, the national evaluation of Aboriginal Family Violence Prevention Legal Services, and the review of Tasmania’s Integrated Whole of Government Family Violence Response. Debbie has managed consultancy projects across Australia in a wide range of sectors including alcohol and drugs, community development, cultural and linguistic diversity, criminal justice, disability, homelessness, problem gambling, violence against women, youth and Indigenous programs.

Debbie was formerly the Director of the Victorian Office of Women’s Policy, establishing the Women’s Safety Strategy in 2002 which led to the development of the first Interdepartmental Committee on Family Violence and the development of the Common Risk Assessment Framework.  Debbie was also a member of the Prime Minister’s Partnerships Against Domestic Violence Taskforce which managed the investment of $50m from the Commonwealth into family violence research and capacity building on a national level.

Debbie has recently retired from paid work and is now pursuing her passion for women’s rights and social justice through a number of voluntary positions.  She brings specific skills in not for profit governance, program evaluation and social policy to her role as Chair of DVRCV’s Board.
