DVRCV celebrates 30 years!
Our organisation recently celebrated its 30th anniversary with a reception at Government House, hosted by the Hon. Linda Dessau AC and attended by our current and former staff, our Board of Directors and many friends and supporters including Dr Helen Szoke, CEO of Oxfam Australia, Assistant Police Commissioner Dean McWhirter, The Commissioner for Senior Victorians, Gerard Mansour and Commissioner for Gender and Equality Allen Rowena.
It was an honour to celebrate those women in our history whose fearless determination has made DVRCV what is today and helped push family violence onto the political agenda. We would particularly like to acknowledge the 25-year contribution of former Executive Officer Vig Geddes, who was instrumental in growing and shaping our organisation through a time when family violence was considered a fringe issue.
We’d like to extend our gratitude to The Hon. Linda Dessau AC and her husband Judge Anthony Howard for hosting us at their beautiful residence and Dr Helen Szoke, for her reflections on DVRCV’s history and future.
This milestone anniversary could not have been possible without all the courageous women in our past who are responsible for our proud legacy. Thank you to those who came before us, and to all who support DVRCV’s dedication to creating a future in which women and children are free from violence.
