Love Control is a groundbreaking film produced by the Northern Integrated Family Violence Services (NIFVS) team at Women’s Health In the North in metropolitan Victoria Australia. VAWnet is a Pensylvanian website with long lists of articles on programs, evaluation, and research on preventing violence against women (follow the ‘prevention and education’ link under either domestic violence or sexual assault).

Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance has links to a range of resources. Of particular interest to violence prevention practitioners is their journal ‘Moving Up Stream’ which focuses on the primary prevention of sexual violence.

A Canadian consortium has compiled a review of school based violence prevention programs and produced a range of resources focused on preventing violence against women and girls.

Rape Crisis Scotland has launched a campaign, entitled This is Not an Invitation to Rape Me aimed at tackling the assumptions and judgements people make about women who are raped, by stimulating debate.

Women’s Health in the North and the Northern Integrated Family Violence Network have produced a short film targeting young women called ‘Love Control’. It is particularly useful for demonstrating the impact of emotional abuse and other nonphysical forms of controlling behaviour. There are two versions on Youtube, one with Victorian contact numbers and one with national contact numbers .

The Australian Domestic and Family Violence Clearinghouse and the Australian Centre for the Study of Sexual Assault both have national online databases of good practice programs that respond to domestic violence and sexual assault respectively, including a large number aimed at young people both for prevention and intervention.

CASA House has produced an evaluation report on their widely acclaimed Sexual Assault Prevention Program for Secondary Schools (SAPPSS).

The Sexual Ethics website has been developed by a NSW research project investigating the exploration of sexual ethics as a tool for preventing sexual assault.

The Australian branch of Amnesty International has released a National Plan of Action to eliminate Violence Against Women which includes advice on prevention as well as responses to violence against women.

XYonline is an archive of profeminist articles by and for men on a broad range of issues including men’s use of violence against women, pornography and violence prevention.

Women’s Health West has a section of their website devoted to the prevention of violence against women with links to local prevention projects and some excellent planning tools for those initiating new violence prevention projects.

An Assault on Our Future: The impact of violence on young people and their relationships is a synthesis of national and international research on children’s and young people’s exposure to violence in their families and in their own relationships, its impact, and its prevention.
