Research forum: Technologies and Sexual Violence

Technologies and Sexual Violence: A forum on young people, technologies and promoting respectful sexual citizenship.

The use of technology in the commission or recording of sexual offences or in promoting sexual violence is an emerging and challenging issue. How we frame this issue is central to the development of responses and strategies for prevention. The purpose of this forum is to have a facilitated panel and stakeholder discussion about the problems, challenges, responses and priority future directions regarding Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and sexual violence.  Panellists are: Anastasia Powell (La Trobe University), Renee Imbesi (CASAHouse), Nina Funnell (University of New South Wales) and Susan McLean (CyberSafety Solutions).  The forum will be followed by the launch of Dr Anastasia Powell’s book ‘Sex, Power and Consent: Youth Culture and the Unwritten Rules’ at 5pm.

Friday, 30th July from 3 to 5pm at the Queen Victoria Women’s Centre.

Registration is free but places are limited, so please register by contacting the Australian Centre for the Study of Sexual Assault (follow link to view contact details for ACSSA)
