Support groups for people affected by family violence

This paper highlights opportunities for the Victorian government to pursue a broader vision of a response to family violence, specifically one that acknowledges the critical role that support groups play in responding to family violence. It reviews research on the role of support groups for victims of violence, finding that there is clear evidence that groups have a capacity to facilitate improvements in safety, empowerment and mental health of participants, and argues that support groups have a critical role in a co-ordinated response to family violence.
