Ruby Gaea Darwin Centre
We provide free services to the Greater Darwin Region and we are a not-for-profit, non-religious organisation.
We provide professional specialist, confidential, ethical counselling and support to all women and children (girls and boys aged 5 to 17 years of age) who have experienced sexual assault at any time in their lives.
The other vitally important activity we engage in is community education and training.
We adopt a trauma-informed and strenghts-based approach in our work.
We believe that sexual assault is an abuse of power and a tool of control. We also believe that it is NEVER the fault or responsibility of the person who has been sexually assaulted. People do not have to report the sexual assault to the Police in order to use our services (excepting Mandatory Reporting). However, if people decide to report to Police, we will support them in this action.
We strive to provide a warm, welcoming and safe space which is neither confrontational or clinical. Our staff are all committed to Ruby Gaea and the work that we do here. We believe it is important to build and maintain relationships with other workers and organisations who also provide services to the people who use our service.
