Tennant Creek Women’s Refuge

What we provide:

A 24-hour 7 day a week safe, confidential and supportive crisis/short term accommodation. We provide clothing, food, hygiene facilities, emotional support & referrals to other services.

Case management, referrals, advocacy and networks to appropriate local and inter-state agencies and family members to ensure the outcomes of client identified goals.

A part time Children’s Worker five days a week providing safe environments for children to debrief, learn and play.

A transparent and accountable service with strongly outlined and accessible complaints/grievances procedures.

Emergency Relief Funding for women & children in crisis. By appointment, assessment criteria and dependent on funds available.

Outreach support for women who are living in the community or have left our accommodation and require/request ongoing assistance.

COUNSELLING SERVICE: This is a free confidential service available to any woman in the community.

Community Education Worker- raising awareness in the community of the effects of domestic violence and its effects on children, by providing and facilitating community education and awareness training, events and meetings throughout the Barkly Region.

Emotionally and culturally appropriate forums in which women are able to discuss domestic, family and social violence in an empowering environment.
