Victoria Legal Aid (VLA)

Victoria Legal Aid helps people with their legal problems. They focus on protecting the rights of Victorians and representing those who need it the most.

They provide free duty lawyer services in family violence intervention order matters in all Magistrates’ Courts in Victoria.

You can call them for free information about family violence intervention orders and how they can help you with your legal problem. Phone them on 1300 792 387, Monday to Friday from 8.45 am to 5.15 pm. If you need an interpreter let them know. They offer free legal information in English and 14 other languages.

Victoria Legal Aid has in-house lawyers who give legal advice and act for survivors of violence in a range of legal matters. Victoria Legal Aid also has a wide range of downloadable resource sheets on legal issues such as police, courts, family violence, intervention orders, relationship breakdown and children, debt, disability and mental health.
